Roman House, Dorchester on Thames Museum
Brief:
Oxford University’s “Discovering Dorchester through Archaeology” project unearthed a Roman Town House which the village museum wished to reconstruct with associated finds. Budget £12,500
Our response:
Studying the archaeological evidence, SolidArt constructed an accurate, scaled 3D replica of the Roman town house from GRP. We housed the model inside a conservation-grade cabinet with an acrylic cover made by our furniture craftsman. To add relevancy to the discovery, we designed sloping display panels incorporating velcro-receptive cloth so that the newly discovered artefacts could be pinned alongside the model house.
